Are microconidia infectious principles in Neonectria ditissima?

چکیده
Abstract Comparative studies of different isolates Neonectria ditissima obtained from canker lesions and rotten fruit showed that both five-septate macroconidia aseptate microconidia were capable germination by germ-tube formation, but growth commenced earlier proceeded faster the former than latter type spore. Further, following wound inoculation apple with numbers conidia (50, 500 or 5000 per wound) resulting rot always significantly larger microconidia, in conidial types lesion size increased higher inoculum loads. These data confirm are causing infections, indicate their contribution to success pathogen field is probably negligible.

Draft Genome Sequence of a European Isolate of the Apple Canker Pathogen Neonectria ditissima
The Sordariomycetes fungus Neonectria ditissima is a major pathogen of apples, causing canker on trees and fruit spoilage. We report here the draft genome sequence of a European strain isolated from cankerous tissue.
متن کاملAssessment of diversity and genetic relationships of Neonectria ditissima: the causal agent of fruit tree canker
BACKGROUND Neonectria ditissima is one of the most important fungal pathogens of apple trees, where it causes fruit tree canker. Information about the amount and partitioning of genetic variation of this fungus could be helpful for improving orchard management strategies and for breeding apple cultivars with high levels of genetically determined resistance. In this study single-spore Neonectria...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequences of Two Isolates of the Plant-Pathogenic Fungus Neonectria ditissima That Differ in Virulence
Neonectria ditissima is the causal agent of apple canker. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of two isolates of N. ditissima that differ in virulence. Comparative genomics will enable pathogenicity determinants to be identified in this plant-pathogenic fungus.
متن کاملVariation in Host and Pathogen in the Neonectria/Malus Interaction; toward an Understanding of the Genetic Basis of Resistance to European Canker
Apple canker caused by the phytopathogenic fungus Neonectria ditissima is an economically important disease, which has spread in recent years to almost all pome-producing regions of the world. N. ditissima is able to cross-infect a wide range of apple varieties and causes branch and trunk lesions, known as cankers. Most modern apple varieties are susceptible and in extreme cases suffer from hig...
متن کاملCylindrocarpon pauciseptatum sp. nov., with notes on Cylindrocarpon species with wide, predominantly 3-septate macroconidia.
A Cylindrocarpon species with up to 10 microm wide, straight and predominantly 3-septate macroconidia, subglobose to ovoidal microconidia and chlamydospores, is described as Cyl. pauciseptatum. It is most similar to Cyl. austrodestructans but no chlamydospores and microconidia are formed in the latter. Similar macroconidia also occur in Cyl. theobromicola, which forms oval to ellipsoidal microc...
